The creation of a smash cake It looks pink under certain lighting and orange elsewhere but I assure you it's the exact same cake and it's supposed to be orange coloured. The cake itself is sugar, egg and dairy free (and vegan), however, the 1½ cups of whipped cream frosting kind of cancels out the dairy-free and vegan part. It tastes good on its own and would be great as a breakfast muffin. The filling is a combination of carrot puree, mashed up banana and applesauce. Also quite tasty. The whipped cream is coloured with 8 teaspoons of carrot puree and stabilised with about a tablespoon of milk powder. I discovered that I don't care for unsweetened whipped cream, especially with carrot puree mixed in but the baby seemed to like it just fine.
